Gdybym powiedziała, że nigdy o formacji o nazwie Organek nie słyszałam, to bym skłamała. Mimo że nie byłam jakoś mega zaznajomiona z polską sceną muzyczną, to ta nazwa (jak i nazwisko Tomka Organka) obiła mi się o uszy. Co więcej, kojarzyłam nawet jedną piosenkę z pierwszej płyty tego zespołu! To chyba za sprawą Męskiego Grania. Ale jaka jest „Czarna Madonna”?
If I said that I never heard about a formation called Organek, I would lie. Although I wasn’t somehow acquainted with the Polish music scene, this name (just like Tomek Organek’s name) met my ear. What’s more, I even knew one song from the first album of this band! It’s probably because of Męskie Granie „Male Music”…. But what’s „Black Madonna”?
Płyta składa się z 12 utworów, a każdy z nich jest na swój sposób ciekawy. Pierwsze na co zwróciłam uwagę po przesłuchaniu płyty to kobiecy charakter zamknięty w tej płycie. Nie chodzi mi o to, że nie mamy do czynienia z porządnym męskim wokalem i całą resztą, to jest i brzmi naprawdę dobrze. Mówiąc o „kobiecym charakterze”, mam na myśli zarówno różnorodność utworów jak i zmienność w sposobie śpiewania ich przez Organka. Mogłoby się wydawać, że jest to gwarancją chaosu, ale nie wcale tak nie jest. W tym szaleństwie z pewnością jest metoda!
The album consists of 12 tracks and each one of them is interesting in its own way. The first thing I noticed after listening to the album is the feminine character enclosed in this record. I’m not saying that we don’t have there a decent male vocal and all the rest, that is there and it sounds really good. Speaking of „feminine character” I mean both the variety of songs and the variability in the way they are sung by Organek. It would seem that this is a guarantee of chaos, but it’s not. In this madness there is certainly a method!
Fajne jest to, że artysta pisząc teksty piosenek, poprzeplatał zdarzenia ze swojego życia z fikcją, dzięki czemu mają ciekawy wyraz artystyczny. Co ważniejsze tworzą nam pewną historię, całość, która trochę opowiada o życiu, społeczeństwie, przy okazji zachowując intymność przekazu. Tą intymność możemy usłyszeć zwłaszcza w „Czarnej Madonnie”.
Cool is that the artist, writing lyrics, has transcended the events of his life with fiction, so they have an interesting artistic expression. More importantly, they make up a certain story, a whole that speaks a little about life and society, while preserving the intimacy of the message. This intimacy can be heard especially in „Czarna Madonna” („Black Madonna”).
Co mi się jeszcze spodobało? Gitarowe riffy, których nie mogłabym pominąć ze względu na moją miłość do tego instrumentu, muzyczny miszmasz przewijający się przez całą płytę, rock, trochę bardziej punkowe klimaty i odrobina bluesa… Spory plus za dwie piosenki w języku angielskim, które podbiły moje serce, zwłaszcza „Son Of A Gun”. Ta piosenka to dla mnie mistrzostwo.
What else did I like? The guitar riffs that I couldn’t omit due to my love for this instrument, the musical mishmash of the whole album, rock, some punk and a bit of blues… Big plus for two songs in English that conquered my heart, especially „Son Of A Gun”. This song is a masterpiece for me.
Z pewnością „Czarna Madonna” Organka nie jest tą, która może przychodzić na myśl, jeśli jesteś Katolikiem (może to moja edukacja szkolna wpłynęła na to, że na pewno nie tego spodziewałam się po tytułowej piosence)… Jak sam artysta powiedział w jednym z wywiadów, zwraca się do kobiety, a nazwanie jej Czarną Madonną wiąże się z jej funkcją wybawicielki. Muszę przyznać, że jest to interesująca koncepcja artystyczna.
Certainly, Organek’s „Black Madonna” isn’t the one that can come to mind if you are a Catholic (maybe it’s my school education that caused that I didn’t expect this after the song title)… As the artist himself said in an interview he addresses the woman, and calling her the Black Madonna is associated with her role as a savior. I must admit that this is an interesting artistic concept.
Różnorodność, energia i konsekwencja to słowa najlepiej opisujące ten krążek. Mimo sięgania po różne gatunki muzyczne, które są zróżnicowane pod względem dynamiki, Organek bez wątpienia jest konsekwentny w tworzeniu intrygującej muzyki, która pozostawia apetyt na więcej i zapada w pamięć. To jeden z tych artystów, o którym się słyszy i jeszcze długo będzie się słuchać, bo takie talenty to skarb, który nie zasługuje na zapomnienie.
Diversity, energy and consistency are the words that unbeatably describe this album. Despite reaching for different musical genres that are different in terms of dynamics, Organek is undoubtedly consistent in creating intriguing music that leaves an appetite for more and is memorable. This is one of those artists that you hear and will hear about for a long time, because such talents are a treasure that doesn’t deserve to be forgotten.
